About

Landfall is a worldbuilding project. This site has a knowledge base with all the publicly available information about the world, as well as stories set in the world of Landfall.

In addition, I have written some worlduilding guides to solidify my own theories and thoughts about certain aspects of worldbuilding and help others who want to do similar projects.

But, why?

Look, imagine you want to write a novel. Why do you want to do that? Who the fuck knows? If I wanted to write a novel it would be because I have something to say, or an angle to explore, and I’d want to do it aloud.

But sometimes a novel isn’t enough. I have a take on the human condition that is unique to me. It’s not a narrative–it’s more like a structure or a system that expresses itself kaleidoscopically, like light off a disco ball. The perspective I have is about this world, but the problem is that this world is vast and harrowing and hides itself. It deceives us into thinking we know it when we know fucking nothing. But I still cling to some of that arrogance of youth, so I think I see little glimpses of the secret truth, the way the world actually is behind the wishful thinking and delusion and myth and propaganda. And I find it easier to make sense of what I’m seeing and to explain what I see when I sidestep the messy, misleading details of this world, and replace them instead with a super stimulus version. A version of the world where the distractions and parlor tricks are quieter and where the truth, as I see it, is louder.

That’s why Landfall exists. I want to know the truth of myself, and the truth of the world, and sometimes I want to tell other people about it.
